Millville Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo are grappling arts. Judo focuses on throwing your opponent to the ground, and Brazilian Jiu jitsu focuses on submission moves on the ground like chokes and joint-locks.
Ultimately we train in martial arts for one main reason: to develop the ability to defend yourself. If you can truly defend yourself, then you will have self confidence. Also if you learn the right martial art you WILL be able to defend yourself if the need ever arises.
The Great Martial Arts Dilema
The truth of the matter is that 95% of most physical attacks and fights start with an aggressor grabbing a victim and then taking the victim to the ground to continue the attack. Many times the victim is knocked to the ground by surprise and the attacker gets on top of the victim.
Do traditional martial arts address this issue?
Traditional martial arts completely ignore these facts. They rely on punching and kicking and have few if any techniques that deal with an aggressor grabbing you and taking you to the ground. Furthermore traditional martial arts require speed, quickness, flexibility and a great amount of athletic ability to be effective.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was specifically developed for smaller weaker individuals to use technique and leverage to stop a larger, stronger and more aggressive attacker.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a truly superior martial arts form that has been proven time and time and time again. It is a truly practical martial art that is amazingly effective.
We are very proud to teach these two wonderful martial arts. It is not only a fun and enjoyable sport to participate in, but we feel it is also the most effective way to defend yourself in almost any situation.
Why choose Impact to learn these arts?
At Impact we realize everyone has different goals. Some focus on sport jiu jitsu. Some are looking to learn to defend themselves. Others want a fun way to exercise and learn something useful at the same time. And there are those who strive to be MMA champions. At Impact we take everyone's goals seriously. Our curriculum doesn't ignore the fact that ultimately Brazilian Jiu jitsu is a martial art that is meant for self defense. We have not forgotten that. We are not so sport focused that we have latched onto techniques that will ultimately hurt the martial art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Impact is an environment that you can be comfortable in. Leave your ego at the door. We are partners here, not opponents. Respect is something we emphasize in our training.
We believe you will truely enjoy your experience at Impact. Not only will you learn from some of the best Jiu jitsu competitors and coaches in the area, but you will have fun doing it in a non-intimidating atmosphere.
So what are you waiting for? Schedule your free class and see what makes Impact so different.
What kind of students are we looking for?
We are looking for any student with a good attitude and a willingness to learn. Our teaching methods emphasize "learning by doing". We engage in a lot of live sparring.
We feel there is no room for students with big ego's or bad attitudes. If this is you, there are other places we can direct you to. We will not sacrifice our principles to pack in a room full of guys who do not conduct themselves in a respectful manner toward other students.
So if you are ready to learn Jiu Jitsu in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere, fill out the form below to get your free week of training.
Chris Haueter's Combat Base
We are also proud to be a part of Chris Haueter's Combat Base Jiu Jitsu affiliation. Chris Haueter began Jiu Jitsu in 1988, training in the garages of the first Gracies to come to America. Chris, along with Chance Wanlass, one of his top instructors, has supported our school more than any other affiliation to which we have belonged. We are proud to be associated with these two fine individuals.
